7th Grade

Dear Seventh Graders,

It’s never too early to start thinking about your future.  Take a look at the “to do” list below.  It’ll give you a good idea of what you should be doing in order to make sure that you are prepared for high school and then higher education afterwards.  Remember to explore all of your areas of interest.  The best way to figure out what you want to be when you grow up is to identify the things that you enjoy doing and then research careers that involve them.  Remember, you’re in the seventh grade.  You don’t have to know for sure what you want to be one day.  Now is the time for exploration and discovery.

To Do:

1.  Begin thinking about the high school classes that will prepare you for college.  Take the most difficult classes you can handle.

2.  Ask your parents or teachers to help you develop good study habits.

3.  Practice setting goals.

4.  Volunteer in your community.

5.  Take interest and skills assessments to help you begin thinking about possible career options.

6.  Talk with your guidance counselor and parents about careers that interst you.

7.  Create a tentative high school class plan.

8.  Enroll in a summer enrichment program.
